Founder and Editor-in-Chief - Michaela R. Shenkin
Michaela (she/they) is our founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Curiositea. Based in England, Michaela is a passionate writer, poet and essayist striving to foster a love for the literary arts among the youth.
"The idea to create the Curiositea came from a reflection on my early days of writing. I'd always been terrified of having my work published under the fear of being a queer Jewish writer with no credibility because I'd never published before, which made a career in the literary arts feel totally inaccessible. I think this fear afflicts a lot of writers, and I wanted to make the Curiositea a safe space for the youth to take the first step towards getting their work published. No matter your background, ethnicity, gender race or politics, everyone is accepted at the Curiositea Hub. Whether you've had authorial dreams since childhood or are reading your first chapter of Pride and Prejudice, I hope this site can help engage your "Curiosi-tea" and take you that step closer to gaining the appreciation deserved for your work."
Michaela's favourite book is the Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chboksy or To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf.

Editor of Poetry: Nea R.

Nea (she/her) is based in the UAE. She is an avid reader and writer with a love and passion for philosophy and literature.
"To me, literature and poetry are places where people are allowed to be their complete unfiltered selves. where all the confusion and all the feelings of being alive start to mean something. I’ve always loved stories that don’t flinch; the kind that show people at their worst and still make you care. Writing, to me, feels like both a mirror and a confession. it’s the art of saying the things you can’t say out loud. I believe wholeheartedly that it’s important to keep that alive among young people to remind us that words can still change the world.
Some of Nea's favourite books include The Secret History by Donna Tartt, Nightcrawling by Leila Mottley and Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin.
